Presenting GAROGOSI debut collection ‘Mer de Glace’

GAROGOSI takes contemporary jewellery to a new level through a unique and powerful narrative; harnessing forms of outstanding natural beauty.

Inspired by powerful and ever-changing natural forms, all items are cast from the surface of the Mer de Glace, the largest Glacier in France. The Mer de Glace is 7km long and 200 m deep, and is predicted to retreat 1200m by 2040. To represent this extreme fragility, each piece is a Limited Edition of 50.

The creation technique involves a mould being taken directly from the surface of a Glacier, along with its exact GPS location. This process is unique and has taken years to perfect. No heat is emitted,  no trace is left, and no damage is caused to the Glacier.

“Cast from a Glacier, a piece of GAROGOSI is unique. It captures a snapshot in time – a brief moment of poised ice –  now passed, melted, eroded and lost”, says founder Sevan Garo.

All items can be purchased on their website www.GAROGOSI.com
